Pregnancy and Postpartum Therapy

You are not alone in feeling stressed or overwhelmed by the journey of becoming a parent - it is often not as smooth or blissful as we expect it to be, and the transition significantly impacts our sense of self and our relationships. In therapy, I create space for understanding the changes and intense emotions that arise during the transition to parenthood, and I offer clients the tools to develop healthier coping strategies so you can become the parent you want to be while still honoring your essential self. Common focuses of therapy include:

  • Treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), including postpartum depression and anxiety.

  • Managing feelings of anger, irritability, inadequacy, sadness, or overwhelm.

  • Healing from a traumatic birth or a NICU stay.

  • Integrating your identity as a parent with your sense of self so you can be you AND the parent you want to be.

  • Processing grief or feelings of loss.

  • Navigating problems with fertility.

Couple Therapy

Relationships take work. It is not a bad sign if your relationship needs help - all relationships require nurturing, work, and support. Couple therapy can provide structure and guidance for you to move forward in areas where you feel stuck. Sometimes the goal for therapy is to help the relationship heal and last, and sometimes the goal can be to better understand your needs so you can feel more confident in the decision you make to stay, leave, or work on your relationship. Common focuses of couple therapy include:

  • Improving communication and conflict management skills to help you feel heard and reduce the hurt caused by conflict.

  • Developing strategies for connection and intimacy.

  • Recovering from a betrayal, trauma, or loss affecting your relationship.

  • Navigating the transition to marriage or parenthood.

  • Creating shared expectations and healthy boundaries for work/life balance, extended family relationships, or co-parenting.

Individual Therapy

I work collaboratively to prioritize your goals and get you moving towards feeling better. Common areas of focus in therapy include:

  • Healing trauma - including childhood trauma, relational trauma, and birth trauma.

  • Treating anxiety, low-self-esteem, or grief/loss.

  • Understanding and improving romantic or family relationships.

  • Navigating life transitions - including marriage, becoming a parent, or job dissatisfaction/changes.

  • Finding personal fulfillment in work, life, or relationships.

  • Managing work/life balance and stress, especially with healthcare professionals.
